This dude must spend a fortune in professional services. Apparently, he can't handle a device that can't auto-configure itself.

It would seem he's done himself and his company a dis-service by actually running a performance test of some of the competitive offerings available in the space.

I think very highly of Riverbed, but this perhaps is not the best advocate or message as to why one would choose Riverbed.

Hi Fredo,

You bring up a great point with regards to organizations spending a fortune on professional services. In the WAN optimization space specifically, it is not uncommon for vendors to quote professional services as part of the deployment phase.

Riverbed's WAN optimization devices are different as they are much easier to install than the competitors. I am obvious biased in that opinion, but I am going off of the direct feedback from thousands of customers that I have talked to over the last 5 1/2 years that I have been at Riverbed. Riverbed continues to get praise from its customers about how easy the devices and software is to deploy and manage. Many customers have little to zero IT staff in their branch offices and having the ability to seamlessly deploy these devices is extremely important.

Simplicity of deployment is obviously one thing to look for. There is also how well the devices perform optimization and acceleration, how they scale, and what features are supported that better match your business needs.

Thanks for the feedback!

Bob
