Thornton May on creating brilliant leaders in information technology
David Spark, reporting from CIO Boot Camp at Interop in Las Vegas.
I caught up with the always engaging Thornton May, Futurist and moderator for the CIO Boot Camp. I asked him about his greatest realizations from CIO Boot Camp.
He boiled it down to three issues:
- There are truly brilliant leaders in information technology and they're in short demand.
- The quality of the wanna be CIOs in the crowd was outstanding.
- Great organizations are using this recession as an opportunity to differentiate themselves from the competitors.
NOTE: Thornton does not turn into a Smurf partway through the interview. We were standing right by the projection screen and all of a sudden the screen went blue, and so did Thornton. :)
