Performance Hall of Fame Winner

Logo_vonpar Congratulations to Cristiano Luvizon of Vonpar (site is in Portuguese) in Brazil for winning the November Performance Hall of Fame.  You can find his entry, More than 650GB removed in a month, band cap. increase 5.17X!! right here.  Cristiano is the Security Officer, and is the analyst responsible for data links.  Vonpar oversees two independent organizations in the food and beverage Original industry in Brazil, Vonpar Bebidas (the 4th largest Coca-Cola manufacturer in Brazil) and Vonpar Alimentos.

Vonpar acquired and installed their 12 Steelhead Appliances (two 1050Hs, a 550H, a 250H, and eight 250Ms) and 30 Steelhead Mobile licenses in June, 2009, and they are distributed around two southern Brazilian states, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul.  Primarily they use them for HTTP, CIFS and Lotus Notes, and as indicated in the graph, he has reduced bandwidth consumed by these applications by between 80 and 94%, and removed more than 650GB of WAN traffic in a month.

Mbrazil Cristiano loves to tell the story of the day that the Steelhead Appliances were installed at their second set of remote sites.  They pre-configured the appliances and shipped them out intending to send technicians to complete the installations once they had complete the installations in the main data center.  But users at the first sites to receive the appliances called their colleagues at the second sites and told them how amazing the Steelheads are.  So their colleagues, who are financial, commercial, and logistical analysts  without very much technical knowledge, went ahead and installed the Steelhead appliances all by themselves.  No technicians required.  And they were thrilled by the performance improvement.

We love this story too, because it once again shows how easy our appliances are to install, and how much difference they can make for the people and companies who use them.
