Riverbed Storytellers Contest winner for September

As we promised, we are catching up on announcing our Storytellers winners.  Today we'll fill you in on our September winner, Jim Helmly from Washington DC.  Jim designs network field sites for his organization.

Jim has over 1200 Steelhead appliances, and has had for over three years.  Needless to say, he has become the Riverbed expert in his organization.  They use the Steelheads to optimize a variety of applications, including HTTP, MAPI, CIFS, as well as some of their homegrown applications.

DC-reportHis Storytellers article, Riverbed Helps Field Sites, But Saves Data Centers, discusses how their Steelhead appliances "provide an enormous benefit to the data centers accessed by the remote sites. If it were not for our Riverbed appliances, our legacy data center would have been overtaxed by the growth in the network sites and traffic."

His graphical results (shown at left) reflect a better than 80% reduction in bandwidth, and a corresponding increase in bandwidth capacity of better than 5x.
