Windows Azure Optimized for Performance

Msoft-rvbd

Microsoft and Riverbed are holding a special seminar event today in Mountain View, CA and the theme is maximizing productivity with Windows Azure and Riverbed.  Today's cloud discussion will focus on the cloud storage component of Azure and the tremendous value that comes with leveraging a rent vs. buy model for enterprise storage.

Riverbed's Whitewater cloud storage gateway family of products will also be the focus of the discussion and specifically how Whitewater addresses 3 key questions that IT professionals have when it comes to cloud storage:  Can I use my existing backup platform such as Backup Exec, NetBackup, or Tivoli Storage Manager?  Can I meet my backup and restore windows now that I am going over a WAN instead of a LAN? How can I be ensured that the data I am transferring and storing in the cloud is secure?

I am looking forward to the discussion and teaming with Microsoft to deliver cloud storage that is simple to deploy, optimized, and secure.  If you are in the area and interested in attending, please rsvp here.

Might want to ask Microsoft when DPM's going to be usable with Riverbed Whitewater out of the box? Don't believe it's supported as yet which is a shame.
